This oversimplifies the problem of crossing that boundary between the web application and the mainframe legacy data. In the one example I've worked on so far, the web application queries a middleware product. The middleware product passes the queries along to COBOL subroutines that I wrote to access a proprietary database format.

Again, I think INTF has a useful product. I'm just trying to place it in the context as a subset of the overall legacy integration business. I contend that the term L2i as used by INTF is somewhat misleading.
