Okay, now that I've divied up (the more paper wealth I accumulate the tighter my wallet gets - I hope that is one of the seven habits that early SI GG retirees exhibit because I've become somewhat of a tightwad - Greenspan there is your wealth effect!) lets set the record straight. NY Stew is by far, unmatched, unequalled, unlikely to ever be equalled, much less even approached, in deed, knowledge and insight in regards to Gemstar than any man, woman, child, robot, computer, talking dog or dancing gerbil is ever likely to come with the notable exception of Mr. Henry Yuen himself.

Oh yes, Part II of Gemstar analysis will be forthcoming once I find the time. When I began Part I I really was uncertain about the merger. I really thought TV Guide was going to be a large dilution to our GMST shares. I was as surprised as anyone to discover that that was not necessarily going to be the case. TV Guide brings with it some exciting, high margin, high cash-flow, businesses. The eBook purchase seems to meld the companies assets together like no other merger I've seen. And we all thought GMST merged with TV Guide for the EPG/IPG monopoly (err) synergies. But for later discussion.

It is a privilege to join the discussion and I thank you guys for providing much of the investor education I've picked up over the last year. This forum is truly a jewel and darn it I just shelled out $199 (with the wife's permission) to prove it. Almost enough money to have picked her up a nice piece of moissanite.
