FWIW continued - anyway - i believe that
1 - the lack of marketing is intentional
2 - the slower rollout the better
3 - G* has plenty of $$$ - burn rate is easily manageable
4 - biggest issue is to prove the system works
5 - the stock is cheap

when the system is close to perfect, the marketing blitz will begin - my guess - late 1n 2000

Peter and threadsters,

At the risk of sounding dumb, I am going to post a question to all your technical experts and, hopefull, will receive some advice as to whatever I should do.

Next year (2001) I will be travelling to the North Pole with a major NY museum team. I intend to purchase a state-of-the-art G* just before this trip. Now, can anyone enlighten me on the geographical boundaries as to G* coverage in that part of the globe?

Thanks muchly in advance,

Ibexx

Peter:

I really appreciate your reviews on the G* service. Can you tell when your phone is in Satellite service vs. CDMA land service? I guess my big question is how well does it work when its talking to the satellite vs. using the local CDMA network?

Have you gotten a bill yet? Is their customer service 'up to the task'?

Carter

<<contractors, crews, realestate folks and the like can not use cell service while at work - all could not believe that every call from anywhere in the berkshires was perfect>>

G* has said that early handset sales would be targeted to users that would probably have high MOUs. However, I think that a few hundred in the hands of people that travel will sell more handsets than a national ad campaign. You bet the passengers on the cruise ship will have taken notice in addition to the crew and the captain. I predict a pyramiding of handset sales in the last quarter this year, if not MOUs. As more of the corporate managers see G* in action, the sales to corporations will materialize and MOUs per terminal will increase. Just MHO.
