* founded in 1997 by Raif Onvural, who ran the ATM systems group at Allied Telesyn and earlier developed the IBM Nways WAN switch; co-founder Yannis Viniotis was an associate EE professor at North Carolina State University and an expert in traffic shaping in both ATM and IP environments.

* 25 employees (~$18M a pop)

* company has partnerships with NEC, Alliance, AMCC, WindRiver, Harris & Jefferies, and Rambus. NEC will manufacture QoSCore in a 0.25u process. First samples are expected in March. AnyLCore and ATMLCore are expected by June. SCore and OC-192 versions of the first 3 chips are expected in late 2000.
