Earlie, "Not smart to sell via a market order" -- that's for sure. Was the house in question a discount broker, i.e. not permitted to give investment advice? Otherwise, it seems they did their customer a singular disservice by not arranging to cross the shares ... but in any case, you'd think that anyone who owned a very large number of shares would know better.

I'm looking forward to your take on the "hoot" aspect. It sounds so much like something you'd hear from a VSE-listed company, you've got me curious. <g>

Changing subjects, how do you think the market would react to an IBM warning? A Lucent-like plunge would suggest Apr puts, whereas a quiet tip-toeing away by the smart money would probably favour the May's (I got hung up on this question this morning and ended up buying neither). Of course, I suppose there's always the possibility of a Micron-like doubling as well ... <g>
