Mass. homes sales dip, prices surge in February
BOSTON, March 27 (Reuters) - Sales of detached single-family homes in Massachusetts dipped slightly in February from the year-earlier month, but the average sales price surged, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors said on Monday.

Detached single-family home sales totaled 2,478 in the state in February, compared with 2,512 in February 1999, a decrease of 1.4 percent. The average selling price rose by 17.9 percent to $254,709 from $216,058 in February 1999, the association said.

Condominium sales rose 12.6 percent in February, to 725 from 644 a year earlier. The average condo sales price rose by 12.3 percent to $157,413 from $140,222 a year earlier, the group said.
