None of this means that I do not believe that AMD will make 1.19 But if I were an AMD holder, I would prefer to be sitting on a $55 stock with a WN of .50 than the same stock with a WN of 1.19

Frank,

I don't think it matters really.....if AMD makes $1.19 eps this quarter, it will be more undervalued than sweaters in California the day after Xmas....and we will see an incredible runup following the announcement.

There is a point where all the prior speculation about a stock becomes moot and that is when the stock has blowout earnings that meet or exceed the wildest speculation. Recent examples are AAPL and NSM. I doubt the AMD will come in at $1.19 but if it does, what a ride there will be.

Frank,

If you wouldn't want to hold AMD, how would you weigh this?

biz.yahoo.com

"Intel can achieve top-line and bottom-line growth of about 15 percent a year over the next few years"

Would you want to hold a stock growing at 15% with a P/E of 66?

Good luck.

steve

Frank - RE: "Well, high whisper numbers are a lot of fun and make you feel all warm inside. But the higher the WN, the more likely a disappointment."

The whisper number at that site of $1.19 shouldn't be taken seriously. Anyone can register and give whatever guess they want. It took me less than a minute to register with a fake name, non-existent email address and I put in a number. If anything, this is just a number people WANT to see, not what they expect...
