April 5, 2000--Advanced Digital Information Corporation (Nasdaq:ADIC) announced today that the National Association of Broadcasters Convention next week in Las Vegas will feature ADIC automated storage systems, data management software, and file sharing systems in six different booth locations. "This year's NAB show illustrates vividly the extent to which digitization of audio, video, and graphics is turning the broadcast and entertainment industries into voracious users of network storage and storage management products," commented Bill Britts, ADIC executive vice president of Sales and Marketing. "With our combination of mixed-media storage libraries, storage management software, SAN file sharing systems, and industry partners, ADIC offers one of the broadest solution ranges in the business." At NAB, ADIC will feature three major product lines: The AML mixed-media storage libraries are scalable automated storage devices that support up to 70,000 pieces of media and hundreds of drives or recorders. The AML libraries have become leaders in broadcast media and entertainment industry use because they allow automated access to data and support simultaneous use of different recording media, including digital tape, analog tape, and optical formats (including CDs). ADIC's AMASS storage management software allows data stored in automated storage libraries to be managed and shared between users using a simple file system interface. AMASS is widely used in broadcast entertainment applications to manage large digital asset pools, and because it is easy for other applications to write data to the AMASS file system, it is also widely used by other digital asset and document management software suppliers to give their products access to large-scale library storage. ADIC's CVFS CentraVision file-sharing system is a distributed file-sharing system that allows multiple workstations or servers to share data from a common disk over a high-bandwidth SAN. CVFS eliminates the need to duplicate or move files between workstations by providing them with common access to files stored on a central disk at local disk speed. The productivity gains provided by CVFS -- which is designed to provide simultaneous support for UNIX, Windows, and Linux systems -- have made it a preferred solution for broadcast and entertainment companies. snip...
