Big, your posts today are very encouraging news for the sector indeed. Looks like the GOM is really starting to ramp - that's one of the reason I really like SESI, UFAB, and HOFF here as superior laggard plays. Imo lots of contracts coming around the bend. Services, jackets, decks, pipelay, platform installation, the whole business. The last auction indicates to me jackup utilization could get real tight real fast. I can't image all those smaller E&P companies letting those shallower blocks "just sit". Those boys will turn the GOM into Swiss cheese. Bodes well for PKD's jackups as well, IMO. Care to share what you see going on from a Rig Dog's eye view?

This deal between HAL and McMoran in jointly developing a large amount of GOM blocks looks interesting and somewhat unconventional.

Traditionally producer and service companies are on opposite sides of the contract. There are exceptions as there are some hybrid drilling/exploration companies out there. Still, do you think the deal is a good thing for the patch, and do you see more of it coming. If so, what are the implications for the patch.

TIA

Bull

Ps. Can't wait to see your new web project/s. BTW I don't expect "disintermediation" to kill off big ticket Rig Brokers any time to soon. That's a strong trend with more commoditized items, of which insurance is one and multi - million dollar rigs are not. <g> I strongly suspect that the fastest, smartest, and easiest way to get your hands on a quality rig is to call some dude named Mike Simmons. Right? <g>
