$25+ crude & near $3 Nat Gas - so what do you buy ?

William JH - right on the money... Nat Gas has snuck back up to $3.

So where is the value, are there anomaly buys, or subsectors representing superior value ?

Here's a thought: My #1 pick for value/laggard posterchild in the OSX.

PGO is up only 1% during the same timeframe that the OSX was up over 60%; that gap will be closed - bank on it.

Glowing analyst reviews, numerous strong buys - price targets averaging $35ish - trailing 52 week high has over 50% upside here - and a "double" to analysts price targets.

PGO is also perhaps the "smart" play on FPSO approval for use in the GOM - they allready have the liquidity available & the design & plans for GOM FPSO's. They are "deepwater" seismic - also have strong land exposure - and have as much earnings acceleration power as any company/subsector in the 'patch once things start moving.

Subsectors ?

Here's one: the best risk vs. reward play imho.

OSX up 55% and during same time period the XOI is down 5%

Here's a great laggard large cap within the mini-major/integrated group:

UCL down 18% as compared to the XOI down 5%. UCL has to be near the top of any further Major Oil takeover/consolidation plays. Huge deepwater exploration upside. Company in transition into an E&P pureplay with huge Nat Gas upside.

I really like leveraging/margining some of the Oil majors, mini-majors & Integrateds here vs. traditional OSX plays. The valuation divergence will be closed, stocks allready at bottom support and with ramping fundamentals & earnings.

Never did I think I would be buying & leveraging the likes of BPA TX UCL P COCb here... but, the technicals and the valuations and the fundamentals & upside appreciation are just so compelling - especially on a risk basis as opposed to adding to OSX momenteum fav's. I'll hold my OSX plays, but I will add & leverage these value/laggard plays into any & all weakness here.

BPA - whodathunkit ? - but, at the same price as when we had $16 Oil & $2 gas, with 30% upside to recent highs (60% margined) - simply too strong of a risk vs reward play to pass up imho... this stock & the XOI have to see new highs by year end in this commodity & earnings environment...

Time to margin a major into any & all weakness here imho.
