Murphy: IBM Is Breaking Out

EXCEEDS JANUARY HIGH. . .In Monday morning trading, Big Blue jumped more than 6 points to exceed its January intraday peak of 124 3/4.
BUILDS ON FRIDAY'S GAINS. . .IBM jumped more than 6 points on Friday to close above 120 for the first time in two months and moved the stock back above its 200-day moving average. Friday's volume level was also the heaviest in two months, which is usually a positive sign.

NEXT TARGET. . .The accompanying chart shows today's upside breakout pushing IBM to the highest level in six months. Assuming the stock holds those gains through today's close, IBM now appears headed toward its 1999 peak near 140.
