Thanks for the update from SLC Paul! A few questions for you.

<<We are talking network services. Streamlined and narrow boxes that plug into an ISPs network and provide everything from file services and network storage to ASP delivery alla DirCOmmerce.>>

Who's going to make these hardware boxes? Are you saying that Novell will provide the scalable networking software (directory, caching, I-Chain) to run on these boxes, and manage HUGE eCommerce activities? Manage the network area storage via directories, and be a application software provider (ASP)?

Any word on digitalme and Citigroup testing? Any word on Cisco endorsement of Novell's directory to integrate with UNIX for their routers? Thanks again for your update.

What happened at the Sunday Microbrew fest meeting? Any interesting tidbits to share?

Regards and thanks for your input, QuadK

Where's The Passion Paul.....

>>We are going to have network service based appliances --- the big pipe --- doing the heavy lifting.

In listening to the presentations this morning from Schmidt and Adams I got this insight. The name of the game at Novell is SCaLEABILITY. Novell is going to gain an entre to the internet through having massively powerful special purpose network appliances whose value proposition and ease of use will drive revenue for the company.>>

Paul:

Please comment on just ONE thing: PASSION.

Seems like there's a ton of good stuff being dumbed into people's "brainshare" but is Eric, Steve et. al. able to "light the match" and really EXCITE.

If I was Eric I'd have the Salt Palace rocking and rolling to where the great salt Lake would start to break up.

Forget about the technical jargon stuff.

All great technology should mainline and map into our hearts and imaginations.

I just got off the phone with the CEO from a DOT.COM start-up that I think is going to be really, really interesting: www.earnware.com

These people are really, really into community, networking, sharing, being open, serving, etc.

I told the CEO that all I have to do is believe in the people and know 5-25% of what I'm talking about, for I learn the rest by taking active risks by interacting with - BINGO - members of communities.

One of the biggest requirements for all communities is to get people to help, share, serve and communicate openly with one another.

There are just too few people in this world who know what to do, how to begin, etc. This all has to do with becoming a transformational catalyst.

Novell's marketing dept. must do more to transformationally catalyze massive, massive change.

The best way to go about doing this is to create pure EXCITEMENT.

When was the last time we associated passion, excitement and enthusiasm with Novell???

Come on Steve, Eric and others.

I still haven't heard any reports of orange or green hair.

Are doing your fair share Paul??

How about simply getting one of the FREE T-Shirts they hand out and writing with a huge black magic marker on the back of it ONE word....GO!!!

Peace.

GO!!!
