What matters to SUNW is MSFT in the tech equity market using it's monopoly money to buy up 'innovation' and leverage it's desktop position into subverting open standards. --- It's pretty appalling to read M$ say that they're needing to develop 'open standards'. --- People talk about the Sun's Capt Ahab McNealy. I sure get the impression that Moby Dick Gates is as obsessed or even moreso with Sun. --- M$ being remedied is important to everyone who isn't a Microsoft shareholder. -JCJ

From the perspective of SUNW's bottom line, I think it may make a difference if MSFT gets hammered by the court, depending upon the nature of the relief granted. For instance, I would think that if MSFT is ordered to make public its source code, that relief could benefit SUNW.

I think a decision strongly adverse to MSFT will unquestionably be perceived in the market as a victory for SUNW, thus benefiting the stock price.

Of course, any decision adverse to MSFT invariably will be appealed, a process that could take at least another year. Of course, during that time MSFT's stock price will continue to feel the effect of such an adverse decision, just as it has these past several months since Judge Jackson rendered his findings of fact.
