Well I just finished reading the previous 170 posts. I took the time to read them as I, my gut tells me that TeraBean is big, really really big. A few weeks ago I read my first Gilder Tech report. It was a few months old. I immediately paid my 295 bucks. I've downloaded all Gilders past reports and my take is this. Gilder reports on technology trends and on companies likely to be impacted by the change. But if you read his stuff and don't understand the science and technology under his story you may well miss the boat. On balance I find the Gilder Tech Reports outstanding. I say I have a well above average understanding of complex system and technology and physics involved.

And the internet and my web information system with 40 virtual desktop on four screens means I can ask tens of questions as a time. watman.com and how at watman.com

TeraBeam is using tech that most likely is the fruit of millions no billions spent on star wars.

On the technology, speculations... The xmitter does not have to carry a warning label. I'd guess the beam is not emitted as a pencil but diffused to a larger size and thus may start out bigger than a bird. In a 1 mile range what would be the spread? Well starting with 5 watts and then concentrating energy even if reduced by fog should be very reliable.

As to the window washer, In that the receiver costs 150 then if intelligent instructions to the washer could not be worked out then two receivers separated by whatever should solve the problem. Considering that the link speed can dwarf rf links and the costs of receiver equipment is lots less and redundant is always prudent, well I don't see the window washer as a big deal.

Anyway to all poster to this thread I've found the discussion and skepticism great stuff.

PS last night I searched for terabeam on SI and not finding it I started my own terabeam thread to which I will post one message pointing to this thread. I don't know how to kill an SI thread.
