Hello Paul,

Thanks much for responding.

What I would like to do is construct the actual charts in Excel. If one had the data it would be a snap. That means that on a weekly (or monthly/quarterly) basis one would need the stock dividend and S&P dividend yield for approximately a 30 year period.

When I looked into this subject in 94 the S&P Compustat was the only place this info was available and the lone person is just not going to get their hands on it.

I called the firm and got to know one of Spare's employee's on a first name basis. He was studying for his CFA and was bored stiff with this method. Too slow and boring for him<g>. I'm sure he's off chasing internet stocks today.

I believe I can improve on Spare's timing system. With just the charts from his book, and using other tools I have become proficient in, my mousetrap is better.

Regarding Tengler, I see that she's listed at the bottom of the book. I guess I didn't pay much attention to her the first time around. Is she with a firm -- or does she have her own now?

I'll check out the mentioned thread. But really, without the actual historical data, it's not the real deal. Spare is describing a system that, some what like Birinyi's cash flow analysis, isn't available to the average investor.

Take care,

Eric
