Dear Nihil: No, I wasnt at the Fat table, although had a friend who was and used to watch him It was terrible, all they got was lettuce and water and I think a slice of bread. I was actually thin, weighed 137 when enlisted and 160 when I got out. I think everyone weighs 160 eventually!! (gg).
As to peanut butter, when I was at boot camp in winter of 60 spring of 61 (bootcamp was 12 or 13 weeks in those days) peanut butter was NOT available to the recruits. In fact our diet was strictly enforced which is probably why we all came out 160 pounds.
As to what they did to me, among other nasty things they sent me to Motivation platoon for an ADJUSTMENT. I think nearly everything they did to us in those days was illegal even then and now not done at all. We had 3 guys in our platoon alone die during training and one go to the nut house. JDN
