Spectrum accomplished its worst fears. Last year they formed as a means of assuring competition to CKFR. Possibly one result of that formation was that Transpoint was driven into the arms of Checkfree as they couldn't compete effectively. With Spectrum still out there (and Transpoint having almost no market share), their mere existence helps assure Justice Dept. approval of the merger. Then, ignominious though it is, the banks each have to accept the strong probability of Spectrum's ultimate demise by signing on with CKFR again for the long term.

And that's a lovely ride. Happy honeymoon(soon)to zuma and ms.zuma.
