Aide hints Jospin has no intention to sell Bank of France gold
Paris--Mar 28--French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin has no intention of
selling off Bank of France gold reserves to top up a special reserve fund aimed
at providing additional funding to the state-run pension system, a senior
government aide familiar with Jospin's thinking indicated to Bridge News. "If
the Prime Minister had any intention of selling off gold to finance the special
reserve fund, he would have announced it last Tuesday when he outlined his plans
to reform the pension system," the aide said. (Story .18840)

Bank of France says "no question of selling gold"
Paris--Mar 28--The Bank of France Tuesday denied it is selling or intends to
sell gold. "Contrary to rumors without foundation on the gold markets, the Bank
of France confirms that there is obviously no question of selling gold," a BOF
spokesperson told Bridge News. (Story .16656)
