Standard Signs Option to Acquire the El Chanate from AngloGold VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2000--The management of Standard Mining Corp. (TSE:SDM. - news) is extremely pleased to report that it has signed an agreement with AngloGold North America Inc. and AngloGold (Jerritt Canyon) Corp.(collectively ``AngloGold') to acquire 100% of Minera Chanate S.A. de C.V.. Minera Chanate S.A. de C.V., a wholly owned AngloGold subsidiary, owns 100% of the El Chanate gold property in northern Sonora state, Mexico. With the signed agreement Standard is now able to move forward with its plan to carry out general due diligence on the Minera Chanate company and the El Chanate asset with the intent to take the property through feasibility and into the development and operating stages. The El Chanate property provides Standard an opportunity to become a gold producer in a short term of less than 24 months. The 26-square mile El Chanate property is located near the town of Caborca, approximately 120 kilometres north of Hermosillo. The property consists of 15 concessions comprised of two Exploitation Titles and 13 Exploration Titles and 100% surface ownership over the known gold deposit. Concessions controlled by Penmont (Peoles and Newmont) are immediately adjacent to the El Chanate property. Drilling has identified a significant gold deposit with room to grow. Standard believes that there is also excellent potential for additional discovery elsewhere on the El Chanate property.
