Re: "If AMD executes well over the next two quarters, I get the feeling this stock could easily quadruple. As a real competitor to INTC in microprocessors and leaders in FLASH, a $35B market cap isn't unrealistic."

Comment: AMD is up 300% in the past 5 months and given that much uncertainty (i.e potential negativity) concerning the Athy has since been removed, there is every reason to believe AMD will increase another 300% to $165 over the next 5 months...Glad you're back to witness the next major upsurge which could easily occur at any moment between now and the day after release of earnings on Apr 12!

<< Is the market really THAT worried about Willy? >>

I don't even think the market really understands technology. They look at AMD and say think they've always lost before, so they have to lose again. Intel has virtually unlimited funds and can crush them. They don't understand how long it takes to develop a processor core, and how big an advantage having a better core really is.

The downside of this situation as I see it is that the market won't give AMD it's due as quickly as it deserves it. They don't understand how big a short term advantage AMD has right now, and so they won't boost the price of the stock substantially until earnings provide proof.

The upside to this is that if willamete is an athlon killer, the market probably won't steal amd's thunder until they have a bad quarter. (Probably at least two Quarters after the willamete release depending on the speed of the ramp)

I fully expect Willamete core to be better than the Athlon core, but if it's not then AMD would have the processor advantage for the conceivable future. If it is, I think AMD will be extremely profitable for the rest of this year anyway (due to the time it will take Willamete to ramp, and bugs in the platform to be worked out).
