OT re CA: Yup you're right of course DownSouth. And reading employee posts from vault.com sound like stuff fresh out of Dilbertville. BTW, I hear CA is going to be offering curbside pickup of downtrodden software companies very soon :-)

Another way to look at them is that they buy orphaned apps, which are going to die anyway or for which support is being discontinued, and extend their life, meanwhile making money on the support.

I wonder: Since there are so many new, discontinuous software apps coming out, has there been a sudden increase in the number of orpaned apps? IOW, has a tornado formed of orphaned applications? And is CA a King of Orphaned Apps?
