I wish I did. On my investment map, you're in the part that says "Here Be Monsters." One of these days I'll figure out margin.

Good luck, though. I hope you beat 'em. That kind of fine print pisses me off, and it sounds boiler room-ish.

Hey Jeff-

If misery loves company...I had the very same thing happen last week. I bought a big block of an unmarginable stock. I had no idea it wasn't. I did not read the fine print on the confirmation screen either. You bet I do now. Anyway, they gave me three days to settle. LUCKILY...I bought back my calls at a little loss and sold the stock for a bigger gain. NERVEWRACKING though.

MARGIN...I wouldn't be where I am without it...which is good. But I'll tell you, I've lost a LOT of sleep over it too. My goal for the year is to get off of it and only use it to buy in big down days.

Good luck with Schwab. I complained to 3 different brokers and sent a detailed e-mail. Got a pat, non-committal response on the e-mail. I swear it was a computer response. Some general BS about "trying to provide the best possible service."

FWIW...
