DENIM: Who Wears Jeans......??

>>DENIM is just a marketing model. As the literature states, DENIM is a marketing model designed to support three key areas of Net services that will play a critical role in the success of any ebusiness venture.

The three areas are Net Management Services, Net Content Services and Net Portal Services.

What Novell hasn't worked out yet, but it has to be coming, is how each product and technology plugs into this marketing model.

This is key. The model makes no sense without the ability to plug in the Novell products and connect them up to customer solutions.>>

Paul:

It's so important for Novell to understand and visualize who will be their future customer.

And if your trying to peddle Internet infrstructure you must radically prepare to pave new roads which lead to the INDIVIDUAL.

Here are some positive questions to ask:

Where will these roads begin?

What are the major streets?

Where are the major intersections?

Is there a Superhighway system somewhere?

How do we identify these roads?

How do we identify the off and on ramps?

I really think the REAL Internet just got underway last month. What I mean when I say that is that I think a radical shift took place last month which is turning the world of business upside down and forcing everyone to come to understand the real energy and lifeblood of this "peoples network": SERVICE.

As a marketing model, just like jeans, DENIM should be plastered on the legs, chest and arms of every individual that walks the face of this planet.

How about focusing on this single MISSION:

For DENIM to really thrive, individuals need to lay claim to all of their personal...

- information
- preferences
- schedules
- financial data
- credit
- insurance
- medical
- phone
- cell
- fax
- email
- unified messaging numbers
- and more etc.

For the infrastructure of the REAL Internet should map fluidly, openly, squarely and directly right smack into the legs, feet, hands, arms, chest and mind of the INDIVIDUAL.

DENIM....what a great metaphor!!

If Novell does ONE thing they should begin to "get" this New perspective:

From here on out, companies, groups, communities and individuals will all be rapidly and radically paving new roads - on/off ramps and highways - which will follow opt-in, permission-base circuits and filters which have the proper access, security, authentication, hooks, bells and whistles....that map to the personal information and data which will ALL be controlled by INDIVIDUALS - NOT companies.

I think this is where the future of Novell's DENIM model rests. NOT with companies, but with individuals.

Novell needs to get into this very "out there" radical service oriented space which will find more and more companies scrambling as they are forced to extend more and more power, control and services to end users - individuals.

It is my belief that Novell will have to outsource this effort to a growing list of New Age individually-focused, tribal-like service/community networks who will be better suited to "bridge the gap" between companies and the emergence and massive replacement growth of these New virtual communities.

This will be the Next Power Wave of the REAL Internet.

The world has yet to experience the REAL Internet: real-time, fluid access to controls, services, customized, personalized targeted information which leverages knowledge as it massively grows the pie.

Just watch the massive acceleration in worldwide ENERGY from this Next Wave.

The quaint Wild West DOT.COM charade days have come and gone. Venture capital has placed its money on moving targets that will disappear one individuals are empower to really understand and "get" this REAL Internet model. Too many DOT.COMs are just flip-driven opaque vertical teepees with only ONE door. Like games of chance at the carny section of the State Fair, it was fun, but these "portals" are losing their stickiness for more and more people are discovering more services which give them control vs. poached on with ulterior power and control agendas.

Those who arrived first in the great valleys of the Wild west were not necessarily the ones who survived the next shake out. The railroads did well, but not necessarily the pick and shovel makers. For there is a limit to the gold rush. DOT.COMs have mined all the dumb trust that could be swept up by default. But it's now time for people to settle down and really get to know one another on a personal level.

COMMUNITY.

INDIVIDUAL.

ENERGY.

PASSION.

These are the high-level words that should be thrown around in the DENIM Hot-Tub this week.

Paul, perhaps you need to loosen up.

Peace.

GO!!
