HD Booster - regarding FAULK(excellent)
Voice Recording Technology

In addition to an Internet music player design, e.Digital has portable voice recording technology which we license to OEM customers for business and dictation use. Developments in the speech technology industry continue to open doors for us. Advances in voice-to-text programs and voice command recognition programs from third parties (such as IBM, Lernout & Hauspie, and Dragon Systems) make new product categories possible. Powerful systems connected to phone lines and/or PC's, formerly the exclusive territory of huge conglomerates, are becoming more accessible to smaller businesses and individuals. Our portable digital voice recording technology is capable of interacting with these systems so that consumers do not have to be out of touch with their desktop speech technology even when they are away from their desks.

As illustrated by Lernout & Hauspie's recent purchase of Dictaphone, we are seeing important developments in the speech technology industry. Hardware companies and software companies are joining forces and combining technology to make the most of this emerging market. We can add portable capability to these systems. We continue to devote research, development, and marketing efforts to applications for our technology in this area.

Most laptop and palmtop computers are still too complex for most consumers. We expect future portable products to emerge with larger screens, no keyboards or electronic "pens", using voice-prompted, and/or voice-activated programs for storage, retrieval and playback of data. These products will take advantage of technology to make the user interface more natural and make products easier for nontechnical consumers to use. Our engineers are focusing their efforts in this exciting new arena.

Kerry, you clearly have no grasp of the technology - you really should restict your comments on technology that you don't understand.

Your initial post about the TI DSP was just plain wrong. Your second post suggested that you'd started to grasp what I said, and realized that you were wrong.

But, I guess not - you just don't know enough about the technology to even know if you are right or wrong.

You are just guessing.

A DSP is just a special-purpose CPU. You said it was an encoder/decoder. That is just plain wrong.

It can be used as an encoder/decoder, or other completely different functions, or an encoder/decoder and other things, depending on how it is programmed. No different than your desktop computer. What you said is just as wrong as saying that a desktop computer is "just a wordprocessor". No it isn't - it can be lots of things, but without programming it isn't even a wordprocessor.

EDIG has no lock on programming for DSPs. Nobody NEEDS EDIG to make a DSP act as an encoder/decoder, as multiple encoder/decoders, or to manage flash memory. Whether or not anybody uses EDIG's software rather than writing their own is strictly an economic decision. Once that I am convinced will be resolved, in the case of high-volume manufacturers - in favor of the "build your own" decision.

OT: Kerry,

I've noticed that Jon sure does have a lot to say about a company he is supposedly neither long nor short on.

I think he must be one very lonely individual, as it seems his attempts at conversing are only to take an opposite view of whatever issue in attempts to prove people wrong.

You know, I just thought of something. Maybe he's a lawyer. LOL

Anyway, I have found that the "ignore" feature on SI is a truly remarkable thing.

:-)

Kerry, why haven't you ever posted to any SI board except for EDIG?

What is your affiliation with EDIG?

Are you a licensed stock broker?
