interesting, finally ATT spins out Wireless IPO
$11 billion which is staggering IPO
interesting for two reasons

first, we are likely to see a fading growth story
ATT's shitful wireless operations have been growing at about 2/3 to 3/4 the growth rate of wireless generally... altho Armstrong boasts of strong growth, their rising business is a joke compared to most other carriers like Sprint and Vodafone... also, their August class action lawsuit in NYCity is likely to be repeated in the future

second, we are likely to see ATT now isolated as a fat dumb slow stupid and wild spending cable firm... with rapidly decaying longdistance sales and profits, and severe technical problems in its cable-based two-way local telephone nightmare

got a friend who has attempted to install AtHome broadband in a big midwestern city... after three failed attempts by ATT's installation technicians, he gave up and ditched the whole process

then you have the numerous small rural towns with idiotic cable-based two-way local telephone service... has me shaking my head

another friend's father has a ton of lifelong savings in ATT, Exxon, GM stock
he is not happy
told him about QCOM and Uniphase last summer
he thought they were both expensive
he will be less generous with grandkids for college tuition
Uncle Jim might step up (they still call me that name)
gotta love those blossoming little splittails
I am godfather to their 13 yr old daughter
