Anybody here have any comment on this DELL/AMD rumor? It's on SI's homepage ...

siliconinvestor.com

"Slips, dips and chips? There was a series of slides and dips all day long and at the end of the day, the dipsters lost all around as the various indices pretty much closed on their low across the board. The weakest one of the bunch, for a change, was the Sox. Things were very heavy for the most part in chip land with Intel leading the charge to the downside for once, as there were rumors that Dell had cancelled a chip order and was switching some orders to AMD. I can't confirm that is the case; it certainly wouldn't be surprising, but that doesn't explain why the equipment stocks were roughed up pretty mightily."

Please you AMD-haters here, don't hate me. I'm just curious. Thanks.

Dave

Couldn't agree with ya more...Jim Kelly has been hammering this since the summer...DELL sells more servers than SUNW right now...Even ML has mentioned that towards the end of the year and at latest the beginning of 2001 DELL will start to eat into SUNW...Smart investors should BUY DELL in here with a long term perspective knowing that this misperception will change...

will the perception change come before or after a few influential market makers STOP hocking their birthright in exchange for their daily pot of porrage? geez

then again, the institutions have been moving back into Dell. Look at the last three month's activity. Postive capital inflow by a ratio of 6:1. maybe it's just the capital starved day traders that keep messing their pants.
