I amended my post. The legal system "aids in" the administration of justice. In this layperson's opinion, we have a system of laws, not of justice. The "Justice" system enforces the laws. There are many laws that aren't "fair" (like mandatory prison for pot smokers and probation for muggers) but the courts don't care about that as justice and fairness aren't their territory. That's supposedly well thought out beforehand by those who pass the laws.
