Dear Rudedog: I have all the respect in the world for your techical knowledge. And morally, you are probably correct also about this management grousing. But, I too have some experience, and it is in running and observing others run large companies. So, if I wish to comment on my opinion of how good or bad a company is run, I do feel free to express my thoughts. IMHO CPQ is the worst run large cap Tech company I have come across. I only hang in here for reasons previously stated, plus, I might add, its so poorly run that I have to believe SOONER or later someone will get in there who knows how to return shareholder value. They got a great franchise and there is no excuse for their performance. JDN

rudepog: Thanks for reminding us of where CPQ and its share price would have been today if it had not sold Alta Vista but had floated it like it said it would! But you must move on, stop harping on the recent past failures of the CPQ Board and management. It's not the Board and management that are responsible for a stagnant share price -its the complaining shareholders. They are unworthy of such a great company.

Complaining shareholders should go and invest in TYCO if all they want is a Board and management focussed on profit and shareholder value - now there's idea!
