Sunspot, I take it your a Dane! You see, there is an abyss
between us and the Scandinavian countries! Apart from the white skin, and Euro Deputies that wine and dine together, have nothing in common. I respect their tradition for democracy,
(not the steep taxation!!) Europe is not a small place, and have diversity of cultures! (thanks God!)

I live few miles across the Swiss border and drive to Lugano, Switzerland every day. And every day I ask myself why two people who can speak the same language can be so different! I may know the answer, Canton Ticino votes, Berna decides! ggg

But please don't confuse my criticism of our system with my
my attachment to my home! In the North of Italy we still have one the best standards of live in Europe, we eat well, dress well and enjoy our lives (no thanks to the government
but to hard work and wealth created as the result of that!
I wouldn't wan to live anywhere else in Europe but here, let it be clear!

Comparing Italy to the rest of Europe is like comparing Mexico to California. I don't judge USA by the government in Mexico, you shouldn't do that either.""

Son Spot, I fogot to answer to this part of your post! In some ways yes, and in someways no. If we consider the law, order and the political system, yes, your comparison is correct.

As far as the quality of life, we still beleive that up North they are "Forestiero," simply tanslted as "svaves from the woods!" This is the term Romans gave the people of the North. They still eat, drink and dress like savages, no offence meant!

Have a nice day!
