Tenchusatsu,

I'm sure Intel could have released a 440BX proliferation that runs at 133 MHz, but it wouldn't have performed as well as Tom's overclocked 440BX. It probably would have performed on par or at least a little better than Via's Apollo Pro 133A.

Well, that's good enough. But I am sure if the politicians at Intel (the ones who keep devising scheme after scheme to corner the market) left the engineers to their own devices, Intel solution would outperformed Via.

The chipsets used to be Intel's strength. This strength has diminished greatly with 810 / 820 / 840. Nobody wants these chipsets.

But I guess with the 815 Solano on its way, and Intel wanting to reuse HubLink and the ICH south bridge, they'll want to retire the 440BX.

They better not play more politics, because if they blow this one as well, it will cost Intel dearly.

Perhaps my coworkers' standard of stability is much higher than that of Tom's.

I would hope so. But I am not suggesting that Intel sells overclocked BX. I would like a 133+ MHz BX that has all the strengths of BX plus some additional features of Via Apollo Pro 133A.
