Marco Polio - Re: "Do you see profits on the horizon for Intel's X-Box contract? "

Yes OF COURSE - next year. Intel is THE LOW COST CPU producer, don't forget !!

Re: "Bill Gates! It's no secret he prefered/prefers the Athlon... "

No he doesn't.

The Intel Contract is PROOF POSITIVE of that !!

How long have you lived in the State of Denial?

Re: "Intel will be shipping a $20 bill with every chip."

Nope.

My bet is that Intel could make a meager profit if the SOLD the X-BOX CPU for $20.

Your narrow, little, feeble mind has - understandably - NOT FACTORED IN the fact that by the time the X-BOX is in full production - year 2002 - Intel will have transistioned to a 0.13 micron wafer fab process, and will be well on its way to transitioning to 300 mm wafers with this 0.13 micron process into production.

Guess what the cost of a Shrunken Pentium III or Timna II will be under those conditions ?
