>We have confirmed from industry sources that AMCC's SiGe-based, OC-192 transmitter and receiver chips are providing the high-speed physical layer interface for Juniper's recently introduced M160 router, extending its relationship with this important up-and-comer from its initial design wins (most recently with JNPR's M40 router).<

not too surprising, steve, but the verification is certainly nice. too bad this bit o' "news" was released today, eh?

if you didn't already know, Juniper's PR engine is on full throttle with the Quad M40 (announcements with C&W, GTE, UUNet and others). to wit:

"Today UUNET is activating OC-192c/STM-64 circuits between Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. ... UUNET plans to expand its nationwide rollout of OC-192c/STM-64 circuits ... to include Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Sacramento in the third quarter of this year, with other major U.S. hubs to follow throughout 2000."

fwiw, here's an additional blurb from a UUNet veep:

"We are constantly trying to push the technology envelope," says Kevin Boyne, senior VP of global network services for Uunet. "If we had used [Cisco's] GSR12016, we would have had to wait."

(Cisco's OC-192c interfaces won't ship till later this year.)
