Gold is a reflection, unlike oil, which is a driver of inflation, that's why it's good at distorting current impressions.
As it was, massive deflation was more of a threat until oil rose (or was held down, whatever you believe).

I don't see gold testing it's old lows, there has always been this type of selloff before a significant rally.

But too much fun in the patch to mess around with PM's right now. Have some core positions that I don't trade. SIL is doing something interesting, bucking the trend, Soros is up to something. Silver really shouldn't move with gold that much anymore, since most of demand is industrial. The difference is similar between Pt/Pd - and you know what happened there.
