Thanks for the comments about best low and best high, I hadn't thought about keeping those values.

That was quite a move almost straight down late this morning.

Do you watch quotes of the cash SPX and futures? I noticed that the futures frequently lead the cash in a 3 to 4 point swing. But if the futures move one way and the SPX stays firm or continues in the opposite direction, the futures change direction in a hurry. I like those types of swings, but the only way I can play those are by watching quotes and reacting quickly.

Messing with Tick Data can be a real pain. I guess the way to approach it is with a well defined concept and try it out on a sample to see how it goes.

Even working with five minute data is difficult. I'm not sure yet how to play intraday trades with buy/sell signals. I think I will just trade in the direction of my daily signal and wait for an intraday double top/bottom as a reversal point. I just want to catch a 3 or 4 point move now and will bail at the first instant the trade goes against me. At some point, I will play my daily signal and hold positions for up to 3 to 4 days.

What I'm trying to do now is "link" data with charts. So if I want to see all the data from today, for example, some time in the future I can pop up a copy of the chart as well for a visual. I think it helps the process.

I can do that with five minute data. Although it takes a few seconds of manual work. I suppose you mean have it automated as well.
