Jim, Having seen Athlon and Willamette, could you design a faster chip that Willamette, that would be manufacturable at good yields? It is hard to say without knowing the details of the design. My gut feel is that Willy will run close to the maximum speed possible with existing technology. Sledgehammer will probably come in the same category. AMD has already proven that they can optimize and balance a pipeline extremely efficiently. The burden of proof is still on Intel to show that they can do the same. Scumbria
