"Look in the front windows and waiting areas of many Oregon businesses and you'll see a sticker announcing that nursing mothers are welcome to feed their babies there. The stickers are part of a campaign begun last year when the state passed a law affirming a woman's right to breastfeed in a public space. Since then over 1000 stickers have been requested by restaurants, auto-repair shops, etc. Nursing moms who find themselves in less than friendly environments can show store personnel a card reminding them of the state's breastfeeding law. There is an 800 number to file a complaint. More than 20 states have passed similar laws, but Oregon is one of the first to back up legislation with measures to help reduce the disapproval and even harassment that some mothers continue to face."
