Mike:

My "final" answer is that I am not aware of any VoIP network on any MSO managed network. As you likely know, they're working on it, & is one of the underpinnings of M. Armstrong's strategy at T. He hopes increase the economies of T's existing LD network by first gaining access to customers via the coax line, second by provisioning circuit-switched voice capability, then migrate that traffic to an IP network where it can be mux'd, thereby freeing up much capacity on their backbone to handle increasing amount of data. Bottom line is that voice will be delivered at dirt cheap prices, most likely a free add-on.

As far as progress, I looked to what going on over at CableLabs with their DOCSIS 1.2 (I think) certification process that will provide an interface, with the PSTN initially, then IMHO, eventually migrate to an IP network. I gotta figure that as the MSOs move into this market they will side with the network engineers on the IP rather than the teleco engineers who are naturally inclined to hold onto their ATM networks.

Gotta roll.
