hi jw what a timely post. netscape crashed 3 times on me just today. prior to that i bet it's been weeks without a crash. what started the crashing for me was a visit to someone's profile. i'd heard that it crashed other's systems, but i'd forgotten. so maybe we're not so all alone, huh? have you tried this? it's not exactly what you say is happening, but i'd still look at the file's date... ufaq.org also, you mentioned newsgroups... did you use their search function for other posts on your topic? :) mark
