eDig's working with major corporations like T.I., IBM, Intel, Lucent, etc. I don't believe that they could be working with a group like this if they had little to offer.

Ummmmm yea... And so am I... I have an "Alliance" with MSFT and DELL - I use Win2k on a bunch of Dell puters...

You need to learn how to read the press releases and separate the chaff from the wheat... Till then, you be a fishie and I eat you.

Warner Music Group to License ATRAC3 from Sony Corporation
NEW YORK, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Warner Music Group (WMG) announced today that it has agreed to license ATRAC3, an audio compression technology from Sony Corporation, for use in the electronic distribution of music. WMG expects to launch its electronic distribution business during the second half of 2000 using ATRAC3 on a non-exclusive basis.

With ATRAC3, WMG will be able to make music available on the Internet that can be downloaded to PCs and then copied on to and played on such portable devices as Sony's Memory Stick Walkman, VAIO Music Clip, Network Walkman and other ATRAC3 compatible devices that are compliant with the guidelines developed by the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI).

Sony's ATRAC3 technology, when combined with SDMI-compliant copyright protection technology such as OpenMG and MagicGate Memory Stick, permits securely downloaded music to move from computers to portable devices. Sony has made its OpenMG copyright protection technology interoperable with various music distribution technologies such as Microsoft's Windows Media, IBM's EMMS system and RealNetworks.

``It is our great pleasure that Warner Music Group has chosen ATRAC3 as one of its major audio-compression technologies for electronic music distribution. Sony has already introduced SDMI-compliant hardware in Japan and the U.S. and has formed alliances with various industry leaders to promote ATRAC3 as well as OpenMG to enable secure music downloading and transferring. The agreement with Warner marks an important step forward for the growth of the electronic music distribution market,' said Keiji Kimura, Vice President, Personal IT Network Company, Sony Corporation.

Said Paul Vidich, executive vice president, strategic planning and business development for Warner Music Group, ``Through this non-exclusive agreement establishing ATRAC3 as one of our compression technologies, our labels and artists will be able to offer fans the ability to download and play their music on some of the first SDMI-compliant portable devices in the marketplace. We look forward to supporting these devices by Sony as well as other popular devices that offer consumers the ability to play a broad selection of secure music at the highest quality sound available.'
