"I hadn't realized it was possible to put a negative spin on today."

Hi Eric- Once I got over the euphoria and shock of positive ATHM news, I spent some time thinking over some of the details. No matter how you look at it, T is a major cable/telecommuncations player. T played the field a bit, but in the long run came back to marry the small town girl. There is no doubt now what intentions T has. No need for a shotgun wedding. T proposed and ATHM accepted. This relationship will be long-lived.

To have front page status with AT&T cable customers is big. T has a huge footprint and it continues to grow both in the U.S. and abroad. This was a blow to AOL and the other ISPs. Speculation concerning AT&T and their relationship with ATHM is over. The Portland decision will just be icing on the cake. A negative ruling will have little effect now.

I am a little troubled with Cox and Comcast though. That part is fuzzy. I would hate to see those cable companies end their relationship with ATHM. They, too, have millions of subscribers and represent a great potential customer base for ATHM. I realize the relationship has not ended, but clearly there is the potential for them to go elsewhere. ATHM will need to work hard for their continued business. This new broadband homepage/site (or whatever you want to call it) is a step in the right direction.

ATHM now needs some analyst recommendations. How nice it was to see ATHM mentioned often on CNBC. In all those reports, I did not hear one analyst say anything bullish about ATHM. I did not listen the entire day, so I might have missed a comment or two.

We'll know we've made it when the shorts come to visit this thread.
