Re: INFS

Lightware is very possibly a minor competitor. They were mentioned in the news article I read because they are also a local company.

And, good luck with your investments. <g>
I may need it! As you can see from my profile I am strongly into MSFT which is currently in limbo until various egos come to a reasonable settlement.

I did not see Lightware.

I can't speak for overall market numbers, but I see a *lot* of Lightware at conventions and meetings, more than anything else by a large margin. My impression is that they are not particularly leading edge compared to InFocus, but maybe they are more industrial strength and thus preferred for this kind of heavy duty use?

The Micromirror Device is indeed from TI, and INFS is dependent on TI for adequate supplies of the part. This is one reason I would never call INFS a Gorilla or G-candidate. Otoh, INFS's significant position would likely give them a preferred place in line if a shortage of parts occurred. Also, not all of their products are Micro-mirror-based. Some are LCD.

Have to throw this out there....Could the Micromirror Device possibly represent a discontinuous innovation (and thus possibly a Gorilla Game) for TXN? I'm pretty sure that it is pretty well covered by patents and could represent an enabling technology in video presentation....

I'll have to try and find some time to look up what exactly TI is doing.....
