Jason, Thanks for triggering my memory on EMLX. I was watching it for a while and forgot it. Some of my notes when EMLX was $160 a few days ago. This week has been a great week to trade in second tier stocks that are down to buy some good companies like EMLX on the cheap.

Emulex knows that connections are great assets. The company designs three types of network connectivity products: network access servers, printer servers, and high-speed fibre channel products. Its LightPulse fibre channel adapters and hubs provide high-performance interfaces for computer networks. Emulex's network access servers enable remote access to WANs, and its printer servers connect directly to LANs (others usually connect to file servers), thus enhancing network performance. Emulex outsources manufacturing to K*TEC Electronics and sells its products mainly to equipment manufacturers (74% of sales) and distributors (24%). IBM and Compaq account for 19% and 14% of sales, respectively.
3/13/00 - Emulex Corporation (Nasdaq:EMLX), an industry leader in fibre channel products and technology, Monday announced that it has joined Microsoft, EMC and other top technology industry leaders at Microsoft's Summit 2000 for the unveiling of the new Microsoft Partner Solutions Center (MPSC).

Computer Network Technology, Hewlett-Packard, and QLogic are competitors per hoovers.

Revs 15.7M to 18.2M to 20.5M to 28.9M to 33.6M
EPS 0.02 to 0.05 to 0.10 to 0.18 to 0.25
Mar00 EPS est is 0.17, Jun00 is 0.19
Been some 60% surprises the last two quarters.

Emulex Corp. Chairman Fred Cox Files To Sell 100,000 Shares (EMLX) on February 18, 2000

Good article at hoovers.com.
"Emulex has teamed up with Compaq Computer (CPQ), Data General, EMC Corp . (EMC), Hitachi (HIT) and most of IBM (IBM). QLogic has Sun Microsystems (SUNW), IBM, Dell Computer (DELL) and Silicon Graphics (SGI), NCR Corp . (NCR), Fujitsu (FJTSY), Hitachi and Quantum. (Emulex basically has the Unix market, while QLogic has the Windows NT space.)"

52-Week Low on 25-Mar-1999 $6.625
Recent Price $160.00 yesterday, today $183.93
52-Week High on 10-Mar-2000 $224.375
Price/Book (mrq*) 31.99
Price/Earnings (ttm) 289.86
Price/Sales (ttm) 53.88
Market Capitalization $5.71B
Shares Outstanding 35.7M
Float 23.9M

Let's look at similar number for Q-logic.
EPS for first quarters is similar and slows in Mar00 and Jun00
Price/Book (mrq*) 50.94
Price/Earnings (ttm) 229.10
Price/Sales (ttm) 62.98
Market Capitalization $10.7B
Shares Outstanding 73.5M

The price stuff is around two weeks old, but shows what a deal this company is at $120s. Sort of like getting CSCO in Apr98 when it fell 40% that month. Will buy this if if can stay flat or down one more day.
Jack

Good night ya'll. Before I go, the Supreme Court bans nude dancing and the market crash (my sector), can't win for losing.
