>>Indeed... as I suspected and it's becoming a ritual here on SI. Only one opinion is correct Becoming?? Since when was it not? <LOL> You of all people should know that, being that your a member from the 1st generation SIers when membership was 1st free (and will always be for the early SI poster).>Be that as it may, as a CSCO shareholder, I am glad that if a customer suggests Cisco give away product for free. I said that? Well I'll be! No, wait a second, I didn't say that! A classic example of a poster so disagreeing with statements made by another that he/she actually changes the content of the other poster to suit his/her own opinion . What's that? Opinion I did say? Now we have another classic example of, how you yourself put it, "becoming a ritual here on SI. Only one opinion is correct - that of the poster". Hmmmm, a little hypocritical are we?? Thats not nice! ;-)>>but since we don't know what the customer was asking for or if it was reasonable I can not comment I could not agree more.. Funny... EXTR is the market share leader in L3 switch ports but is a distant 4th in revenue generated. Funny how Extreme was but an itch to Cisco in terms of switching (L2 included) just a little while ago. I guess the Gartner Group press that Extreme got in packet forwarding technology superiority over other vendors is getting the attention of what at that time were paying Cisco customers.>>[miscellaneous ramblings] Not even worth commenting on....made little sense to me. ....you forgot Juniper....BTY, nice article in IBD about Juniper eating Cisco's lunch on the high-end router market, and that is with just a base of one product offering that is not even a year young.>>since market share in core routers has gone from 100% to 70%+ there is a problem? Well, It is not exactly something I would want to hear if I'm Mr. Chambers. I can see him partying right now..... "Boys and girls? We just lost 30% of our market share! Keep up the good work!"
