More jawboning from the FED rubber bacon circuit: Fed's Moscow-Incremental rate hikes appropriate CHICAGO, March 30 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Michael Moskow said on Thursday the U.S. central bank's incremental rate rises had been appropriate so far but the Fed is reassessing that policy. However, Moskow said he did not want to give any hints about whether the Fed would continue moving in small steps in the future. ``It is appropriate for us to move in the fashion we have in order to maximize the chances that our policy is going to be effective,' Moskow told reporters after speaking at a breakfast event. ``I don't want to predict, or event hint, that I am predicting what we are going to be doing in the future,' he said. ``The Federal Reserve is constantly reassessing the situation.' Moskow also said that an average U.S. growth rate of 4.5 percent during the past few years is unsustainable ``on a long-term basis' without sparking inflation. He also noted that there were no signs that soaring U.S. oil prices have spread into the rest of the economy to cause general price rises.
