It is a geographical thing. You are too far North. The growing season for lushess peaches requires some length, some heat, and bright sunlight. Peaches that go to market are picked while they are still hard. That way they can with stand the time, tumbles and rumbles of the processing and transporting to the grocery store or whatever. Any sweetening and such takes place while the peach is still on the tree and under the sun. That is why they put heavy syrup in the canned peaches. So, don't take my word for it. Go down to mid or southern California during or better yet just after the harvest season. Drive to an orchard that has already been picked a week or two earlier. Find your self a peach that looks like it is ready to drop from the branch. If you touch it and it falls in your hand, you know its the one. Then, tell me if it aint so, moe. But don't go to Georgia, you couldn't handle that.
