Microsoft.com Surpassed Freeserve as U.K.'s Favorite Web Site in February BALLMER SPEAKS... By Cecile Daurat London, March 30 (Bloomberg) -- More U.K. Internet users visited Microsoft Corp.'s Web site than U.K.'s Freeserve Plc in February for the first time since November, according to MMXI Europe BV, an Internet measurement company. Of the 3,000 people taking part in the sample, out of an estimated 7.8 million Internet users in the U.K., 31.9 percent visited Microsoft.com at least once in February, while 29.8 percent clicked onto Freeserve. The results came as Freeserve, U.K.'s first Internet access provider, has been making acquisitions and adding services such as financial services for small businesses on its Web site to attract more users. France Telecom SA's Wanadoo remained France's favorite Web site in February, with 45.9 percent of French users, while Deutsche Telekom AG's T-Online International AG was Germany's most popular Web site with 66.8 percent of German users visiting it at least once in February. MMXI measures traffic on sites, which advertisers and analysts use to assess their commercial value. It records the pages visited, the time spent on a particular site, and how regularly they are visited. Ballmer says Microsoft will make ?substantial? offers to settle lawsuit By John R.
