It was I who questioned eBill's tale of the braless flamboyant breast exposure. Not so much that it didn't happen, but that the details may have gotten a little exaggerated-- something I am prone to do when I tell stories and which I don't find at all reprehensible, except that it was affecting the truth of an argument.
I understood what you are saying, but your reasons for saying that MC's story is a lie seem to be that 1) bathing with children isn't normal (your girlfriend being your basis) and I said it is a common occurrence and 2) that a sick child shouldn't be in cool water, which I pointed out is not medically true.
Other than that, I don't know why you thought MC was lying. If you take away the "feeling" part, the "suspicious" laying on of syrup" that so bothered you, it was very simple...feverish child, tepid bath, parental feelings of protectiveness and love. Anyone who has sat up with a baby in the middle of the night is prone to those somewhat romanticized and strong emotions. If you haven't had the experience, I think it's presumptuous to label it. Hyperbole it might be, but lying it isn't.

One of the most annoying things about some childless people (not meaning you)is their smug assumption that they know best how to raise kids and just how terribly parents are doing. Once you're a parent, you realize no one knows much of anything and nothing is certain.
