Where are the VodaFone/Globalstar handsets coming from?

And, do Australian customers count as Globalstar subscribers?

is the $1.62 - $1.80 price per minute in AU$ or US$?
it appears the phones are significantly cheaper in AU there than in US.

Vodafone Globalstar was officially unveiled today, giving users access to mobile coverage from anywhere in the
country as well as up to 200 nautical miles off the Australian coast.

Why only 200 miles? Shouldn't it cover within 1500 miles of each gateway?

Best,
John

I know this is a dumb question, but with the CDMA system G* uses, what is allowing it to go with GSM too? Anyone want to explain that to a average surfer?
