ok guys, let me see if i can clarify today's news a little... after talking to the company, i've learned this will be a VERY significant product for the OA division. it's main benefits are the 1 line OC192 and the superior distance of the product. oh, and that it's faster than any other on the market. it is an OEM product which will go into nearly every switch or router of companies such as CSCO, NT, FDRY, EXTR, Alcatel, MCNY...should i continue? basically into every datacom's switch or router other than COMS. it is 1/3 the cost of current tranceiver modules. it DOES NOT replace fiber driver... closest competition would be LU or Agilent's products, which do not have 1 line OC192 capabilities and do not have near the distance.... anyone still think this isn't exciting news? oh, and do you guys think they increased their foundry space not to supply large quantities of these puppies?
