I don't see much optimism - in fact most on this thread seem to be saying it will go lower before it goes higher.

"I just look at the fundamentals and they look poor"

I could understand this sentiment applied to technicals - but I'd have thought the fundamentals look good? Nothing new has happened of note - except the lower price which threatens marginal producers which is bullish on the supply side - also there has been some unwinding of hedges - again this should be bullish - if you beleive Benes.

Unlike you I only see gloom and acceptance.

> We are much closer to $200 than $400 an ounce. Yet all I hear on this thread, and Kitco and Gold Eagle and from every other Gold Bull Newsletter Commentary is how the POG will be at $400 this year.

There is an incentive to be bullish if you sell a newsletter or run a website, higher prices = more $$$'s Newsletter writers are always $100 over the current market. I recall the September 1995 Las Vegas Gold Show, when gold was near $400 and every expert was predicting $500. I talked to several folks and said "gold will not get much over $400", and when they asked "you mean this year", I said "no, this decade" Sometimes reality is difficult for the goldbugs to accept.
